L’Oreal Lash Paradise vs Too Faced Better Than Sex – Dupe Or No?

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve last posted here on my blog. But I’m back to compare two of the most popular mascaras in the beauty industry right now, and to let ya know what one I personally think takes the trophy.

A while back, I read that the new L’Oreal Lash Paradise mascara was a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. Initially, that turned me away from trying this mascara because a while back I had purchased the Better Than Sex mascara and I basically thought that mascara sucked. It didn’t do anything for me that made me feel like spending the $23 on the tube was totally worth it. (But seriously, $23 for mascara… the formulation better be lash extensions in a tube and allow me to flutter my eyes and take off into the sunset.)

But last week, I thought why not give the L’Oreal Lash Paradise try since it’s only $8.99?! Fast forward to now, my feelings on purchasing this mascara: NO RAGRETS. None. Zero. Worth every penny. As a makeup artist, I’ve tooled around with plenty of mascaras. I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve come across a mascara that blew me away instantaneously like this one did.

The Packaging + Wand

Right off the bat I could tell why every beauty blogger out there referred to this mascara as the Too Faced Better Than Sex dupe because of the L’Oreal Lash Paradise’s packaging. It’s basically the same exact thing! They both have the minimalist chic, rose gold packaging- which is a beauty blogger’s dream for beautiful photos.

Lash Paradise Mascara

The hourglass shape of wand, similar to BTS, allows it to really hug your lash line to achieve the most lift and definition. While the bristles are short, soft and separated from one another. The only main difference between the wands of these two mascaras is the Better Than Sex mascara wand is very, very dense. It is thicker in size and has a lot more bristles that are very close together. The density of the Better Than Sex mascara definitely cut the application of your mascara in half due to the amount of product that was deposited to your lashes right away- but I noticed it caused really bad clumping. (Which is initially the reason why I returned the product.)Lash Paradise Mascara

The Formulations

The formulation of the L’Oreal Lash Paradise is to die for. Not only do I feel like I don’t even need to use an eyelash curler with this mascara, but I also have noticed that this mascara does not flake or transfer during the course of the day. I’ve heard many people complain about how their mascara transfers to their eyelids throughout the day, and I highly recommend this mascara to those who have that issue. My lashes are noticeably longer and way fuller without being caked together at all. When I first used the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, I noticed my lashes were super full but clumped together which made me look like I had less lashes.

So, Is It Really A Dupe?

I am going to have to say, kind of. The packaging of the two mascaras are almost identical. The wand and bristles are very, very similar. But as far as the formulation- it’s all about personal preference. If you’re looking for a lighter feel, separated but voluminous finish to your lashes, definitely go give the L’Oreal Lash Paradise a shot! But if you don’t mind the clumpiness and want the most volume out of your mascara, stick with the Too Faced Better Than Sex. I personally think that the L’Oreal Lash Paradise takes the cake over the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara. (If you haven’t been able to tell considering I raved this whole post about how much I loved it.)

Have you tried this mascara yet? What are your thoughts? Do you love it as much as I do? If not, what’s your go-to mascara? I’d love to hear from you!
